Lamb of God – Laid to Rest

Laid to Rest is Lamb of God’s fifth single, from the album Ashes of the Wake. This song is a first person narrative of a murder victim haunting his killer.

This is a very difficult song, even for the seventh tier. The song features many long sections of hammer-ons. Temporary relief can be found in the RB RB RB RB Y riff, but it doesn’t last long. About two-thirds of the way through the song is a long line of RB chords, followed by a long line of GY chords. This section should be used to bring the rock meter back up to green. Finally, be mindful of the 10 second long all hammer on section that appears multiple times.

Lycris

If there was a single day I could live-
A single breath I could take-
I’d trade all the others away-
The blood’s on the wall-
so you’d might as well just admit it-
And bleach out the stains-
commit to forgetting it-
You’re better off empty and blank-
Than left with a single pathetic trace of this-
Smother another failure, lay this to rest-
Console yourself, you’re better alone-
Destroy yourself, see who gives a fuck-
Absorb yourself, you’re better alone-
Destroy yourself-
I’ll chain you to the truth,-
for the truth shall set you free-
I’ll turn the screws of vengeance and bury you with honesty-
I’ll make all your dreams come to life-
And slay them as quickly as they came-
Smother another failure, lay this to rest-
Console yourself, you’re better alone-
Destroy yourself, see who gives a fuck-
Absorb yourself, you’re better alone-
Destroy yourself-
See who gives a fuck-
See who gives a fuck-
See who gives a fuck-
Failure-
If there was a day I could live-
If there was a single breath I could take-
I’d trade all the others away-
I’d trade all the others away-
