Unearthed 9/11 Footage: Rare New Angle of Twin Towers Collapse Resurfaces After 23 Years

More than 20 years after the September 11, 2001 attacks, new footage of the Twin Towers’ collapse has emerged. Kei Sugimoto, who recorded the video, recently released it after finding old tapes in his closet. A Reddit user remarked, “It’s crazy that we’re almost 23 years out and still discovering new footage.”

Sugimoto’s footage, taken from the roof of a building at 64 St Marks Place in New York, offers a rare view of the towers collapsing from the north. The video captures smoke billowing as the towers fall, showing a “unique perspective not seen from the south or east,” according to one viewer.

Since its release on July 23, 2023, the video has sparked significant online conversation. One user noted, “It makes me wonder how much history is hidden away in attics or basements, waiting to be rediscovered.”

Sugimoto’s decision to release this footage not only adds a fresh visual element to the history of 9/11 but also deepens the collective memory of a world-changing event.
